Prologue: The Story of New London

England. June 1840.

Two months into her marriage and pregnant with her first child, Queen Victoria is taking a public carriage ride with her husband, Prince Albert. A mad tavern worker named Edward Oxford interrupts the Queen's ride and fires two shots at the couple, striking both in the head. Both die along with Victoria's unborn daughter. I dug the watch out of my pocket and held it so tightly in my fist, feeling the rhythmic ticking vibrating slightly through my hand. I felt the pull again and this time, somehow not of my own will, I began to take a few steps forward, coming into view of the robotic man and probably all the women. I knew that the man would have seen me by now but he looked back towards his wife.

I was being pushed and dragged over into the crowd of women in their long flowing dresses. I looked frantically back to where I used to be standing but tried Like Cog Work ch.2 by ~SweetUnicornTears

Like Cog Work ch.1I knelt on the ageless coffee-coloured carpet. My Grandmothers’ dim, dusty house always seemed to cure me of school holiday boredom. I stared at the dark, old wood of the cabinet, following the naturally embedded lines with my eyes in awe, my mind traveling to the history of the tree that this beautiful piece of furniture once was. I felt the need to touch and lightly trail the lines with my index finger. I have always had an odd interest for old things.

Thorn:
I walk into Mission controls with the heels of my combat boots clicking softly across the floor. It’s a bit strange; the only sounds being that of my shoes and the soft buzzing of the machinery surrounding me on all sides. Our Wednesdays aren’t usually this quiet.
Who am I, you may ask? Well, to most I’m a rebel. A “wild card”. A Radical. But, to the people who actually matter to me, I’m called Thorn.
I’m a part of the sly group they call the Steampunk Radicals. A group of individuals joined together for the common good of that which is past; and the restoration of that which is still to come.
You see; in most situations, there are defined bad guys and good guys. Well, we’re the in-between guys. We’re doing “supposedly” bad things to protect a greater good.

The Steampunk Radicals: PrologueThe year is 2072. The world is resting in near ruins, torn mercilessly apart by the prideful nature of human beings.
How, you may ask? What could possibly be so vast in ghastliness that it affects the entire world?
It started with the former United States— the proud eagle perched proudly, watching over all the rest of the world as it always had done.
It was the result of rivalry between the states; an accumulation of pent up emotions and tensions between them that eventually broke. After all, fervent forces will only grow in strength until they are one day released in an unconquerable riot.
It began in 2045, and has been this raging, inferno-like war for nearly thirty years now.
But perhaps you still are having trouble comprehending.
